I Am Grateful

By Marcos Leon

I am extremely grateful today. I thank God for Faithwalking and for you. As I think about all that I’m grateful for, my list is long. So here are three things in particular I’m grateful for today:

I am grateful for our past and our heritage.

  • I am so grateful for those who led the way and laid the foundation for Faithwalking. I am grateful for Jim Herrington, Trisha Taylor, and Steve Capper. I am grateful for every participant, facilitator, volunteer, and contributor that has given to sustain this ministry.
  • I am grateful for the power of the Faithwalking process and for the curriculum. I am grateful for my own transformation. I have grown so very much, and my life is so much healthier. I can’t imagine where I would be without the Faithwalking process.
  • I am grateful for thirteen years of success and survival. What was originally intended to be a program used exclusively here in Houston is spreading around the world. That is amazing.

I am grateful for our present – despite a pandemic.

  • I am grateful for the ongoing transformation that is happening among Faithwalking participants. I am extremely fortunate that I get to hear so many stories. I get to watch people begin to live fully alive lives and to experience deep transformation. Just last week two different pastors shared these stories:

“I’ve been angry for most of my life and I’m beginning to realize how that is impacting me and the ministry that I lead. I finally have some hope.”

“I am beginning to get a glimpse of what ministry might look like apart from my vows – and it looks really appealing.”

  • I am grateful for the many people who make Faithwalking possible every day. I am grateful for our staff team, Marcos Leon and Angela Raley. I am grateful for our amazing board led by Gail Edmonson. I am grateful for every Faithwalking Circle leader, every facilitator, every coach, every contributor, and every volunteer. There are so many people who make Faithwalking happen. I am grateful for amazing relationships, partnerships, and friendships.
  • I am grateful for Zoom technology that has allowed us to continue our work even during this pandemic. We have not only survived thus far, but we have thrived. I am grateful that we have new weekly Faithwalking groups that have enabled people to stay connected and to keep transformation alive.

I am grateful for the future of Faithwalking.

  • I am grateful for what is yet to come. I am grateful as I look forward to wholeness being possible for new people and new communities around the world. I look forward with anticipation as I imagine what the world will look like as increasing numbers of people align with the way of Jesus.
  • I am grateful for emerging Faithwalking Circles, facilitators, coaches, and contributors who will continue to make Faithwalking accessible around the world. We cannot do this work without volunteers and contributors. I am grateful for the increasing numbers of people who join us in this vision.
  • I am grateful that more and more people are becoming agents of wholeness in their own contexts. I am grateful that people are engaging in missional living, and I am looking forward to the kingdom coming on earth more and more. Thank you for being part of the Faithwalking family. May you increasingly experience the Shalom of God.

Why Faithwalking?

We believe that God’s intended design is for wholeness in individuals, communities, and the world. We believe that God’s hope is for shalom to be present, which includes peace, unity, completeness, wholeness, and well-being for everyone and in everyone. God’s hope is for the Kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven.

We live in a world of brokenness: People are chronically anxious and reactive, internally conflicted, frequently unloving, and regularly unconcerned about the common good. Many Christians are inconsistent in following the way of Jesus.

Our Mission

To make wholeness possible for individuals, communities, and the world.

We do this through a process of spiritual formation where people are equipped with tools to gain freedom from wounds of their past, grow in emotional maturity, and live lives of purpose on mission with God, so that they increasingly follow the way of Jesus by serving the poor, the marginalized, and those in need, working for the common good, and restoring individuals, social systems, communities, and nations to God’s intended design.

Our Vision

Our vision is for Faithwalking to be accessible to every person in the world so that participants become agents of wholeness in their own context.
