Transformation is not a switch that can be flipped, but a process that takes a lifetime. It takes ongoing encouragement, effort and support. That is why we have created ongoing transformation education (OTE’s) to continue to help you press in to transformation learning and practice. Each year there are a dozen or more opportunities in the area of spiritual formation and emotional maturity along with opportunities to apply this learning in your life.
Creating Wholeness with Our Families of Origin
Many people live much of their adult lives hurt and angry at their parents. This can stem from hurts and wounds from childhood or from parents not being what their children want or need them to be. Moreover, their parents either won’t apologize in a meaningful way or won’t change to become the type of parent the child wants. This causes people to carry resignation and cynicism toward their parents throughout their lives, distancing (physically or emotionally) or even cutting off. Distancing often looks like maintaining a relationship out of obligation, but one in which the parties are not close or truly connected.
Another common malady of mankind is people finding it difficult to near impossible to be different in their families of origin, especially with their parents. They may act or play nice but are often frustrated, resigned, and cynical about things ever being different. This course is designed to help us be who we want to be with our parents, deal with the hurt and disappointment, and be connected in ways we never thought possible.
A Conversation About Guiding Principles
In our first online OTE course, Ken Shuman takes you through the process of understanding more clearly what a guiding principle is, why we need guiding principles, and how to develop and define your guiding principles.
